An abbreviated, opinionated guide to Portland, Oregon. An attempt to outline and summarize the basic things you need to know to get started and integrated with the city.

Genius.com is a great resource for finding music lyrics. Unfortunately, it is also cluttered with a huge amount of ads and garbage — even shoehorned in the middle of songs. No, I don't want tickets to see Chuck Berry, I'm pretty sure he's not touring anymore.

I made a simple bookmarklet (Javascript) that strips out the junk and gives you the lyrics in plain text. Click the title for installation instructions (10 seconds)!

Trusted Housesitters is a great site, but it's missing one crucial bit of data for prospective sitters: the distance to a searched city. If you're looking for a gig in Denver (a city where you can often walk to things) you may not want to hang out in Aurora (a suburb where humans may legally wed their SUVs).

My Firefox extension adds "distance from" to U.S. and European capitals. Click the title to download the ZIP file.
